You doctors don’t live by the advise you give to your patients. Pre-hypertension, hypoglycemia and GERD are signs that your body is under stress and you’d better listen to the signs because you know the progression. (By the way, I’m not a doctor and I do not play one on TV.) Still, I’m glad that the snow day gave your body a chance to heal.

I totally relate to the description of your work days-mine are the same. I’m zoning on my RSS subscriptions with a back ache after doing surgery all day instead of charting. It doesn’t matter that I know that I ‘choose’ to run my work day this way, I never implement change.

Forced slow down is such an eyeopener; the spaciousness is lovely. It would be healthy to incorporate some of that into my normal life, but I choose to keep the pace that you describe. Hmmm….

I was able to take the day off as well today, and it has certainly served to lift my spirits in many ways. I have a faint recollection of reading a study recently touching on the topic of snow days and health, but was unable to find it quickly just now. I spent my day catching up on home improvement tasks (nothing too complex…changing lightbulbs, fixing a leaky sink, and using my power drill here and there), catching up on emails, and taking my doggies for a walk through the blizzard. For me, there are few things as satisfying as trudging through the snow, hearing it crunch under my feet, and doing my best not to let my strong doggies pull me down onto my butt. Strangely enough, there is also something very gratifying about scooping up a steaming pile of dog poop on top of the crisp, white snow. Yes, I know that’s a little weird! I’d guesstimate my BP right now to be 90/60 (mine runs low), and pulse 58. 🙂
